Leadership

Andrew Hart, Chief Executive Officer

Andrew Hart served as the Head of School at The Oaks Academy from 2002-2015. He is responsible for all aspects of the school including oversight of the operating budget, fundraising, administration, and curriculum development. Andrew is a founding Vice Chairman of the Board of Herron High School, an urban classical charter high school. He received his MBA from the University of North Carolina, and prior to The Oaks he worked in Marketing Strategy and Business Development at Eli Lilly and Company. Andrew is a thought leader in education and a passionate advocate of the Indianapolis community.

Bruce Crawford, Head of School, Fall Creek

Crawford has taught at The Oaks Academy since 2005, beginning as a fourth grade teacher, served as lead teacher for second through fifth grade from 2008 through 2013 and Lower School Director at Fall Creek from 2013 through 2015. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University and his teaching license through Indiana Wesleyan University.

Kelly Altman, Head of School, Brookside

Kelly Altman is the founding Head of School at The Oaks Academy, Brookside. Kelly has worked at The Oaks Academy since 2008, when she began as a fifth grade teacher. Her responsibilities include hiring, curriculum, professional development and developing a quality school culture. Kelly is a former third/fourth grade teacher in Lawrence Township, a 2014 IBJ Woman of Influence and a passionate educator and school leader devoted to establishing a community that embodies the school’s mission. Kelly received her BS in Education from Indiana University.

Laura Grammer, Head of School, Middle School

Laura Grammer serves as the Head of School of The Oaks Academy, Middle School. Laura has a master’s degree in educational leadership and was selected as Indianapolis Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2000. She has led the development of the educational philosophy and curriculum of The Oaks Academy, and continues to lead hiring and professional development for faculty. Her love of teaching coupled with her love of learning makes her an essential part of The Oaks’ leadership.

Michael Erler, CFO

Michael Erler serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Oaks Academy. Michael provides oversight and support for the organization’s financial management, human resources, information technology, and facility management. Prior to joining the Oaks Academy, Michael worked in finance at Rolls-Royce North America and Medxcel Global. He earned his MBA from Butler University and completed his undergraduate work at the Kelley School of Business at IUPUI.

Angela Gray, Director of Admissions

Angela Gray has served as the Director of Admissions at The Oaks Academy since 2004. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management and has certification in Strategic Planning and Successful Recruitment Strategies. She coordinates all aspects of the admissions program focusing on building great relationships with current and future Oaks families across three campuses.

Nathan Hand, Director of Advancement

Nathan Hand serves as the Director of Advancement at The Oaks Academy. He is also on Faculty at The Fund Raising School at Indiana University and is the former President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Indiana. Nathan has his master’s degree in Philanthropic Studies from the School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University and did his undergraduate work at DePauw University. He loves helping our supporters determine the best way to support the school.

Chad Lynn, Director of Oaks Plus

Chad Lynn began his work at The Oaks in 2006 coaching and teaching. In 2008 Chad assumed leadership of Oaks Plus, which includes Before and After Care, extra-curricular after school programming, the athletic program, and summer camp. Oaks Plus has grown each year offering a wider variety of options and involving more students and families. Chad graduated from Butler University in 2001 with a degree in secondary education and history. Prior to his work at The Oaks he held teaching and coaching positions in public and private, middle and high schools in Indianapolis and in Puerto Rico.
