Why The Oaks

The Oaks prepared me to rise to challenges that would have appeared insurmountable had I not been empowered and pushed by teachers of such high caliber. Most importantly, I have a strong desire to continue learning as much as I can about as many subjects as possible, thanks to a seed planted in me long ago by The Oaks.

I like The Oaks because it’s welcoming. If it’s your first time visiting the school, there’s always friends there that meet you and that already like you as a friend. One word to describe the school is “awesome” because it’s a great place.

I love teaching at The Oaks because there's no artificial ceiling to limit our inquiry together as students and teachers. Here we can be whole people--soul, mind and strength--and tests matter less than our character and community.

Paul Kortepeter

Teacher

I love coming to school every day. My favorite thing about The Oaks is the teachers and the students – they are all so nice. And my favorite project that we did was the world project about all the countries!

Because of the wide variety of diversity at The Oaks, I was able to integrate as a functioning member in a diverse city. I felt confident venturing out of my comfort zone in both high school and college. The Oaks beautifully integrated faith and education, and I always felt respected and comfortable discussing my values. The way faith was lived out made you want your own personal relationship with God.
