Support The Oaks Academy and realize tax savings as we are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. We encourage you to consult your legal and financial advisors to determine which option is best for you. Gifts may be made to honor or in memory of a friend, family member, special teacher or person.
State Tax Credit for Scholarships
Now you can give to our scholarship fund through a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), enabling you to realize a 50% Indiana state tax credit and your applicable federal tax deduction. For example, a $10,000 contribution to The Oaks Academy through an SGO results in an out-of-pocket expense of as little as $1,500 depending upon your tax rate. Online
MAKE A GIFT ONLINE
Online giving is a convenient way to contribute to The Oaks Academy. Your participation in Annual Giving funds our academic programs and supports students who would not otherwise able to attend The Oaks. Online gifts are charged to your credit card.
Cash
A cash gift entitles you to a charitable deduction during the calendar year in which your gift is made. Cash gifts can be made as a one-time contribution or over several months as payments toward a pledge. Donation checks may be sent to:

Appreciated Securities
A gift of appreciated securities entitles you to a charitable deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities, and none of the appreciation in the security is taxable to the donor. When you give securities, your federal tax deduction is limited to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income for the year in which you make the gift. However, you may carry forward the excess amount as a charitable contribution for up to five years, subject to the 30 percent rule.
For more information on making a stock gift, please contact Dana Cooper, Director of Advancement, at 317.931.3689 or dcooper@theoaksacademy.org.
Planned Gifts/Bequests
You may wish to remember The Oaks Academy in your will, and/or set up a charitable trust that could benefit both your family and the school. Your legal and financial advisors can best advise you about these options.
Life Insurance
A gift of life insurance is a unique way to give to The Oaks Academy. To qualify, The Oaks Academy needs to become owner and beneficiary. You may choose to donate a paid-up policy no longer needed, give a policy that is not fully paid-up and take a deduction for the present value of the policy, or make The Oaks Academy the owner and beneficiary of a new policy. Ongoing premium payments qualify as charitable deductions.
Real Estate
A gift of appreciated real estate is like a gift of appreciated stock. Any type of property you have owned for more than one year qualifies as a charitable contribution at its fair market value. The asset may be given outright, or may serve as the corpus of a trust arrangement, or in the case of a personal residence, may be given with the right of lifetime tenancy by the donor and/or spouse. An immediate charitable deduction is available to the donor, and the gift is not subject to capital gains taxes.
In Kind
Sometimes gifting an item that the school needs is helpful. We’ve received capital improvement support, furnishings, classroom supplies, kitchen equipment and other items. A receipt is issued for all in kind gifts; their value is determined by the donor and his or her tax advisor. Please contact the Advancement office if you have a suggestion for an in kind gift, 317.931.3687.
