Choosing the right school is one of a family’s most important and personal decisions, especially considering academics, faith-based values, tuition costs, and more. At The Oaks Academy, we understand each family’s journey is unique, and finding the right fit can feel overwhelming.

Over the years, we’ve guided parents through this process, helping them move from uncertainty to clarity – whether or not The Oaks was their final choice. Recently, two families shared their experiences of finding their way to The Oaks, and while their paths were different, both discovered a deep sense of belonging and purpose within our community.

The Garino Family

For Renee Garino and her family, the journey to The Oaks Academy began many years ago. The mother of two recalls searching for the right school for her son to begin Kindergarten. After visiting The Oaks and participating in the required observation, her son was ultimately not accepted.

“Like any parent, hearing that your child wasn’t accepted can be incredibly disheartening,” she shared. “But unlike other schools, The Oaks took the time to explain why. That gave me hope and helped me understand what more I needed to do to help my son. While I learned that the Oaks was not the right school for my son, I am forever grateful for the seed that was sowed.”

Years later, that same seed blossomed into something beautiful. When it came time for their younger daughter to start school, they found themselves once again considering The Oaks. This time, the fit was perfect.

“We now have a kindergartener who is thriving,” she said. “The Oaks feels like home to her. Relationships come first here, and that makes all the difference.”

Their family’s story demonstrates that while every child’s path is different, finding the right school means finding the right environment to support their unique journey.

The Whitfield Family

For Joshua Whitfield’s family, the search for a school began with a clear vision: they wanted a Christian environment to cultivate positive habits and a strong academic foundation. Initially drawn to The Oaks by a family member’s recommendation, they were soon won over by the warm community and shared values.

“After our tour and meeting with staff, we knew The Oaks aligned with what we wanted for our children,” they explained. “Integrity, passion, and advocacy for our kids – all grounded in Christian beliefs.”

Since joining The Oaks, that warmth and sense of belonging have only deepened. Each morning, as they walk their two younger sons to class, they are greeted by staff members and fellow families, reinforcing the strong community bond. This connection continues into the classroom, where teachers consistently keep parents up to date, ensuring they stay engaged in their children’s progress.

“The Oaks was the right decision for us. It’s not just a school; it’s one big, huge family.”

The Oaks Academy Difference

The experiences of these two families reflect what so many of our parents have come to realize: The Oaks is more than a school — it’s a close-knit community where relationships, faith, and learning are intertwined. Whether you’re beginning your journey with your first child or searching for a different path for another, The Oaks Academy provides an environment where every student can thrive, grounded in Christ’s love, surrounded by supportive teachers, and committed to academic excellence.
