Alumni and Donor Relations Specialist

Help to build relationships with alumni and donors to support the mission of quality urban education, renewal, and equity.

Research and Data Specialist

Research and organize data, creating systems to effectively communicate with parents, donors and advocates about schools that are renewing the community.

Content/Story Creator and Social Media Strategist

Use your creative writing and storytelling talents, along with social media strategies, to capture and share true and inspiring stories of diversity, renewal, and education from our students, families, and community.

Web and Visual Designer

Put your design talents and tech skills to use producing beautiful and innovative communications directed to students, families, community members, and school supporters, all through a variety of digital channels.

IT Knowledge Base Specialist

By helping to build  critical technology-related systems, this VISTA will enable The Oaks to optimize its IT resources to better serve our growing student body.

Operations Policy Developer

Work alongside the Director of Operations to help to build capacity within our network of schools, so that important aspects of operations run optimally and in line with our mission.

Human Resources Associate VISTA

Work closely with the Director of Administration to develop HR structures to allow The Oaks Academy to fulfill its mission of being a quality school serving a diverse student body.

About AMERICORPS VISTA

Since 1965, the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) program’s mission has been is to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty through volunteering and the mobilization of resources. 

About the VISTA Program

  • Requires a full-time commitment (40 hours per week) for 12 months
  • No religious activity required
  • No political activity allowed

Benefits of Participating

  • VISTA Living Allowance:  Approximately $927 per month

  • VISTA Health Benefit Program

  • VISTA Training:  Pre-Service Orientation, On-site Orientation

  • Relocation (~$550) if moving more than 50 miles

  • Life Insurance, if requested

  • Public Assistance, if eligible

 

End of Service Benefits
Pending successful completion of 12-month service

  • Approximately $6,000 Education Award and Federal Student Loan Forbearance
  • OR $1,800 Cash Stipend and Student Loan Deferment
  • AND Non-Competitive Eligibility for Federal Agency Employment
