At what age does The Oaks Academy begin enrolling students? Is there a half-day option?

A child must turn 4 by August 1st to begin Pre-K and turn 5 by August 1st to begin Kindergarten. Our school meets five days a week and you can choose a full or half-day program for both the Pre-K and Kindergarten grade levels.

While many students’ birth dates fall close to the August 1st deadline, we adhere strictly to this deadline to maximize your child’s success.

Am I able to select the campus my child will attend?

The Oaks Academy is home to three wonderful campus locations: Brookside, Fall Creek, and Martindale-Brightwood (home of our Early Education Center and Middle School).

Students entering grades Kindergarten to 5th Grade can select a preferred lower school campus location (Fall Creek or Brookside) during the application process. Unless you notify us otherwise, you will be considered only for the campus location you choose.

When you apply to Pre-K, you will select a preferred future campus. Your child will then be placed in a classroom with fellow students who also chose your selected lower school, allowing all students to develop strong relationships that will continue at Oaks lower schools.

Does The Oaks Academy have a religious affiliation?

The Oaks Academy is a Christ-centered school and is not partnered with any specific church or denomination. While faculty and staff sign a statement of faith as part of their employment, families do not sign a statement of faith.

Does The Oaks Academy offer financial assistance?

Yes! Financial aid is available if a student meets the criteria for admittance and family need is demonstrated through the FACTS application process. Families must apply every year to receive financial aid.

After applying, families are encouraged to complete the FACTS Tuition Aid application (and submit any required income documentation) as soon as possible so the financial aid award included in the offer letter is accurate.

Use the online Financial Aid Calculator before applying to The Oaks Academy to receive an accurate estimate of your family’s total contribution. (All values provided are estimates only and are subject to income verification through our online FACTS application.)

What kind of test will my child take to be considered for admission?

Admissions testing allows us to determine if your child is grade-level ready and these assessments are just one part of the application process.

Early Education – Pre-Kindergarten
Students applying for Pre-Kindergarten will participate in a 45 – 60-minute, small-group readiness assessment with our Early Education faculty. Parents are typically notified of the results directly after the assessment.

Early Education – Kindergarten
Students applying for Kindergarten will participate in a 45 – 60-minute, one-on-one readiness assessment with our Early Education faculty. Parents are typically notified of the results directly after the assessment

Early Education – First Grade
Students applying for 1st grade will be scheduled for a one-on-one assessment with one of our 1st-grade instructors. Parents are typically notified of the results directly after the assessment.

Lower School – Second through Fifth Grades
Students applying for 2nd through 5th grades will take the NWEA Admissions Assessment. They will also be screened for reading comprehension, writing, and math. Parents are notified of the results within one week of the assessment.

Middle School – Sixth through Eighth Grades
Students applying for 6th through 8th grades will take the NWEA Admissions Assessment. They will also be screened for reading comprehension, writing, and math. Parents are notified of the results within two weeks of the assessment.

Admission testing may be waived depending on the student’s current and former standardized test results. If you are interested in waiving admission testing, please contact the Admissions Office

Does The Oaks offer shadow visits for prospective students?

Students entering 4th through 8th grades can shadow at their current grade level for a half day, once their application is in review. By shadowing at their current grade level, the student is expected to work alongside students in class.

The day begins just after the arrival window and ends at noon on a regualr school day. Students are encouraged to bring a notebook, pencil/pen, and a grade-level reading book. The student will work alongside their peers and may attend special classes (art, PE, music, etc.) if the class is scheduled for one during the shadow time.

If you are interested in having your child participate in a shadow visit, please contact the Admissions Team.

When will I know if my child has been admitted?

Applicants for Early Decision (deadline December 1st) will be notified by the end of January.

Applicants for Regular Decision (deadline March 1st) will be notified in April.

Does The Oaks Academy have a wait pool?

Yes, especially at natural entry points. Historically, students enter in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 6th grade. At those grade levels, we typically have a wait pool during the admissions cycle.

The wait pool consists of applicants who have completed all the steps of applying and are qualified for admission but for whom we don’t have a spot. The wait pool is ordered by the date of the completed application. (A complete application includes all required documents: application, birth certificate, immunizations, admission assessments, standardized scores, and grades.)

The wait pool does not carry over from year to year. Families in the wait pool who do not receive an admission offer are asked at the start of the admissions process if they would like to re-apply when applications open for the next year.

What fees are required in the Admissions process?
  • Oaks Application Fee: $50
  • FACTS Financial Aid Application Fee: $45
  • One-time Enrollment Fee (only paid when signing enrollment contract): $60
  • FACTS Account Setup Fee (only paid once child is enrolled): $55
