Partnering with Families

At The Oaks, we believe parents are their child’s first teacher. At every step throughout your Oaks experience, our goal is to come alongside you to help your child reach their highest potential.

A consistent homeroom teacher provides your child with the support they need to succeed throughout their middle school journey. This faculty member will be the main point of contact for your family and help you navigate your middle school experience.

In 6th grade, students all participate in Foundations, a class thoughtfully designed to support their transition to middle school. This ungraded class helps students adjust to their new schedule, explore different ways to study, and learn how to plan for success.

Response to Intervention (RTI)

We know children are faced with unique challenges in their growth and development during the middle school years. We want to help your child reach their full potential by creating strong academic skills, social skills, and emotional regulation during this season of their life.

Our faculty closely tracks each student’s academic and personal growth and provides additional support as needed through our Response to Intervention program. Through one-on-one or group support, our dedicated RTI team works closely with students in and out of the classroom.

Dean of Students

Our deans’ primary purpose is to provide individual support for students needing additional support. This role allows us to closely support students as they build emotional regulation skills, resolve conflict with other students, and address in-classroom behaviors. Middle school students have access to our deans at any time by requesting time with them. Our deans partner with parents and students to help children strengthen lifelong healthy habits.

Preparing for High School

Our director of high school placement partners with each family throughout their middle school years to identify and explore high school options. They will also assist your child with school applications, interview preparations, and scholarship application processes.

Alumni of The Oaks attend and excel at public and private high schools in Indianapolis. From there, they continue to make an impact in their communities – in Indianapolis, across the country, and even throughout the world!
