Hands-On Learning

At The Oaks Academy, we believe in intentional, hands-on learning that nurtures your child’s growth. Our Early Education classrooms are screen-free, fostering the habit of attention and fine motor skills through interactive experiences.

Each morning, students gather for Lauds, setting a Christ-centered atmosphere for the day, with an extended time of worship during Chapel on Wednesdays. Through nature study and thoughtfully designed field trips, students explore and connect learning to the world around them.

Traditions

Pre-K students participate in Oaks traditions throughout the year to capture their imagination and expand creativity in learning. Special traditions like Fall Fest, Box Day, Gingerbread Jamboree, and Spring Fling allow you to engage in school life throughout the year and experience the vibrant Oaks community alongside your child.

Screen-Free Classrooms

We believe technology has a proper place in education, and introducing it at the right time for students is critical. Our Early Education classrooms are screen-free and focus on hands-on learning experiences so your child can strengthen the habit of attention as well as their fine and gross motor skills.

Lauds and Chapel

Lauds is a set time for students to gather for a song, scripture reading, and prayer each morning. Starting every morning in this way sets the Christ-centered atmosphere of The Oaks, welcoming your child to center their day on Christ. Parents often stay for this special time, and it’s a great time to engage with other parents.

On Wednesday, students participate in chapel, an extended time to sing, read scripture, and pray together. These 30 minutes are a highlight for our school community, and parents often line the walls to worship alongside their children.

Nature Study

Nature study is a way of learning for students to observe and appreciate the world around them. Your child’s curiosity will grow as they explore and pay attention to the natural world.

Field Trips

We believe that hands-on learning and exploration outside the classroom are crucial for our students' growth. Our field trips are thoughtfully designed to help your child draw strong connections between what they learn in class and the real world.
