Partnering with Families

At The Oaks, we believe parents are their child’s first teacher. At every step throughout your Oaks experience, our goal is to come alongside you to help your child thrive.

Small Class Sizes

Your child is set up for success with our limited class sizes. Each class in our Lower School has approximately 18 students. Every Kindergarten teacher is supported by a full-time instructional assistant who provides additional guidance and care for our students. All classrooms in 1st - 5th grade have a floating instructional assistant who provides added support.

Engaging Families at Saturday SchooL

Twice a year, our supportive community has the unique opportunity to learn together at Saturday School. This distinctive Oaks tradition allows you to spend time in the classroom with your child and learn alongside fellow Oaks parents in short seminars. Most parents say they are better parents because of what they’ve learned at Saturday School experiences.

Parent-Teacher Communication

Throughout the year, our teachers are in close communication with our families. Every Friday, you’ll receive updates in your teacher's newsletter. Teachers often reach out to parents to update them if needed. Twice a year, teachers host in-person conferences to connect with parents about their child’s progress. Parents are also encouraged to reach out directly to their child’s teacher when they have a concern or question.

Response to Intervention (RTI)

We want to help your child reach their full potential, and developing strong academic skills is an important part. Our experienced faculty closely tracks each child’s growth (through M-Class and NWEA scores, as well as teacher recommendations) and provides additional support as needed through our Response to Intervention program. Through one-on-one or group support, our dedicated RTI team works closely with students in and out of the classroom.

Dean of Students

Our deans’ primary purpose is to provide individual support for students needing additional support. This role allows us to closely support students as they build emotional regulation skills, resolve conflict with other students, and address in-classroom behaviors. Our deans partner with parents and students to help children strengthen lifelong healthy habits.
