Reading Between the Lines: Third Grade Literacy and Life Outcomes
Explore the crucial link between third-grade reading proficiency and lifelong success and how The Oaks’ commitment to literacy fosters a path to achievement.
Generosity has always been the heartbeat of The Oaks Academy.
Twenty five years ago, a small group of believers prayed for creative solutions and divine miracles in urban education. Through God’s provision of financial gifts from generous people, The Oaks Academy became a reality at 23rd and Park.
The Oaks is a nonprofit organization with an independent governing Board of Trustees. We exist as a community-funded school and are not part of any educational network or system.
As we remain a Christ-centered, independent school – today serving over 1,000 students across three campuses – it’s essential to know what is still the same:
First established by donors,
The Oaks continues to be supported by donors
and our future students’ successes will be sustained by donors.
We say every dollar gifted matters at The Oaks because it’s been true since our founding.
As we look towards the end of the year, many of our supporters think about their year-end giving and ask about the greatest need at The Oaks.
More than 800 students are currently receiving financial aid this year. That’s 80 percent of the students we serve!
Every gift directly impacts our students and teachers.
We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization. When you make a gift, you will receive a tax receipt at the end of the year.
You can have confidence your gift will be used wisely because we received a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator and the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Guidestar, both trusted sources specializing in nonprofit reporting.
We are accredited by ISACS (Independent Schools Association of Central States): the highest level of accreditation possible and a mark of exemplary education.
Our donors love giving through the SGO program, an excellent tax-saving option to provide income-based scholarships. SGO gifts are eligible for a tax credit equal to 50% of the donation amount against their state tax liability.
How much does it take to have an impact at The Oaks?
$10 provides Latin curriculum for a student for 1 year.
$50 provides art materials for a student for 1 year.
$150 covers the cost of all field trips for a student for 1 year.
Our donors support us with all sized gifts and every single gift makes a difference for our students. On behalf of our 700+ alumni, 150+ staff, and 1,000+ students, we are so grateful.
