Last year, our community came together for the 1 Million Minutes Challenge to raise funds for playground renovations and a new multipurpose athletic facility. Our students led the effort by tracking their tech-free minutes and asking friends and family to support their tech-free goal by making a donation in their honor.
We often say every gift matters at The Oaks, and these projects are a great example of how generosity makes a difference at our school.
Thanks to our students’ hard work and our supporters’ generosity, our students are enjoying two brand-new playgrounds, and construction is underway on The Oaks Fieldhouse and Multipurpose Space at Martindale-Brightwood.
Lower School Playgrounds
From swings to slides, a turf field to climbing structures, our students are exploring all the brand-new equipment for their discovery and delight. This summer, we installed two new playgrounds at the Brookside and Fall Creek campuses. Our students have been using these spaces for play and relationship-building every day since the first day of school.
The Oaks Fieldhouse and Multipurpose Space
Construction crews are making significant progress on The Oaks Fieldhouse and Multipurpose Space. In this place, our community will cheer on Oaks teams, and our Early Education students will have a dedicated space for gross motor activities.
The new facility will be 63,000 square feet, including:
3 high school basketball courts
4 elementary basketball courts
3 volleyball courts
200-yard elevated walking track
Large, light-filled gathering space
You can see the latest updates on our ongoing time-lapse video, which is updated daily.
We’re so grateful our community helped make these projects possible!
This summer, The Oaks Academy was full of familiar faces. Fourteen alumni returned to our campuses—not as students, but as leaders, mentors, and teammates
Each year, The Oaks Academy gathers all faculty and staff for professional development that strengthens both practice and community. This August, our team came together at Newfields to explore the habit of attention through nature and picture study.
At The Oaks Academy, education goes beyond academics. Our students grow in curiosity, confidence, and character—learning the habits and values that prepare them to thrive for life.
One year after the 1 Million Minutes Challenge, the results are easy to see. Thanks to our community’s generosity, students are enjoying new playgrounds, and construction is underway on The Oaks Fieldhouse and Multipurpose Space.
