More Than A School:
Preparing Students for Life
This year, 1,100 Oaks students will experience an exceptional education that will help them develop curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. While placing high value on excellent academics, we deeply believe that we are more than a school. This is a place where who a child becomes matters just as much as what they are learning.
What Does That Really Look Like at The Oaks?
In a cultural moment when many Pre-Kindergarten students are handed tablets and Kindergarten students type on keyboards too big for their little hands, our classrooms are instead filled with chalkboards, pencils, and real books.
While it takes more time and energy to teach a child how to look an adult in the eyes and ask for help, we believe it’s essential to develop strong habits and a mature character, investments that will have a lifelong impact. (And we all know children learn technology very easily!)
While some believe test scores and grades are the primary indicators of a successful school, our hope is to graduate mature alumni who can flourish academically, emotionally, and spiritually. So we focus on teaching habits like self-control, respect, and responsibility, and modeling reconciliation. At The Oaks, students are turning their weaknesses into strengths on their way toward maturity.
(Yet our students still lead the state on standardized test scores, thanks to a robust curriculum and master faculty!)
The Oaks has high expectations and an exceptional curriculum, but they lead with gentleness and grace. It’s a gift to watch your child grow up in this environment.
Laura, Oaks parent
Because of our mission, the beauty of The Oaks is that all children have access to this exceptional education and deep character development, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
Our commitment to socioeconomic diversity means two out of three students depend on scholarship support. That’s 700 students relying on donor-funded scholarships this year.
We simply could not do our work without the support of like-minded people who share our vision and joyfully invest in a future where more children can learn what is true, good, and beautiful. Oaks supporters help us send out students who have the character to succeed in life, the compassion to make a positive difference, and the maturity to weather life’s storms.
